The battle continues for 5th graders in Mrs. Gries' class!
While studying the American Revolution the students in Mrs. Gries’ class pretended to be Loyalists and Patriots. The students wrote speeches defending their opinions and some of them used Audacity to record their arguments on our podcast. Izrael, Bailey, Taylor, Skyler, and Samantha represented the Loyalists and agreed that the Colonies would be foolish to leave the protection of King George. Makenzie, Miguel, Jacob and Sergio shared the Patriot point of view and called for independence. Please visit the podcast page on our website and listen to their excellent speeches.

Students at Negley are learning all about robots. Every Monday afternoon the students get together and learn how to make a robot, program a robot, and make it do some sort of task. The students are fully engaged in the process everytime they get started. With the help of a few parent volunteers, the students are learning how to program the robots to perform small tasks. Who could ask for more, legos and robots. The Robotics Club is sponsored by Danielle Capps and Elizabeth Andrade.

6th graders in Ms. Vandeweerd’s TechApps class enjoyed using the Clickers to help them review for a test.
Using Clickers in a classroom can give you the quickest response back to the teacher in determining what needs to be retaught or not. The students get so absorbed into using the Clickers, that they don’t see the process as studying for a test!
The teacher showed the students how their response compared to others in the class. A graph is immediately displayed after each answer is scored to determine the percentage of right answers to incorrectly answered questions. The students were more eager to ’study’ using a hand-held device versus reading!!
