New BES Web Site.

New BES Web Site.

Responding to parent, staff , student and adminstration input, the Buda website was completely redesigned by the school Instructional Technologist Richard Ingels this year

”One of the top requests was to have a layout that had a lot of information available yet be easy to navigate and also reflect the wonderful spirit of our school.” Ingels said.

Plans include more school photos highlighting school activities, programs and student work.

“It will never be done,” Ingels said, “but is constantly being updated and added to while  removing out of date items. And new ideas and content are always welcome.”

BES students use technology throughout the school day to help them learn the skills and concepts they need.  Whether it’s improving reading skills with iStation or finding ways to foster communication with Wikis, technology plays an important role.  Wikis are a great way to collaborate on all kinds of projects, and Buda Elementary has put them to good use!

Fifth grade students can post poems, suggest solutions to math problems, post stories and even invite other students to add to the work.  Fifth grade teachers Mrs. Britton and Mrs. Farest set up the fifth grade Wiki to foster communication and give students a safe place to publish their work within the campus network.

The Buda staff uses a campus Wiki to plan meetings, post helpful documents, create a bank of resources, and collaborate on a common goal, even if they aren’t in the same room.

A Wiki is a collection of web pages that many users join and can edit or add other pages. It can be used for something as simple as planning a luncheon to developing common math curriculum strategies for the year.

The Wiki is a safe place for 5th grade students to publish their work under guidance from a teacher and read only on campus.
