stormchaserAt the end of their science unit over weather, 8th grade students were able to participate in an interactive video conference with the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chaser, Reed Timmer.  The conference was hosted by Region XI in parternership with the Discover Channel, the National Weather Center, NOAH, and the University of Oklahoma.  Student from around the state were able to ask questions and hear answers from the experts.

Did you know that a highway underpass is a terrible place to take cover from a tornado?  Mr. Timmer said that wind speeds are actually greater in those spaces and ditch is better than an underpass.

Tornado Tip!  If a tornado is coming your way, but on your bicycle helmet.  Most tornado fatalities are caused by head injuries – any helmet you own will help!
