The gingerbread men in the kindergarten classes at Tobias Elementary went missing on Friday September18th when they ran around the school without permission. Students and their teachers searched high and low at Tobias Elemeantry and met many of the people in their school community like the Librarian, Nurse, Instructional Technologist, Principals and Office Helpers. The Instructional Technologist, Jill Williams on the spot shared with the kindergarten teachers an interactive website for their students to use to practice mouse skills and make connections to the activities they participated in that day. Classes used the interactive site in a variety of ways including: Airliner Slate in the classroom, in the Computer Lab and on the SmartBoard.

 The 2009-2010 school year is the second year for 5th graders in Hays CISD to have their own user account. Students at Tobias Elementary learned how to utilize their accounts this week in a lesson taught by Jill Williams. Students created their own password, learned about password safety and create content folders in their U drives. The students are very excited about having this privilege as 5th graders and asked insightful questions about the safety of their work and identity while using the networked computers. It was noted by both Jill Williams and the classroom teachers how at ease the students were at following the directions during the lesson compared to the 5th graders last year.
