SchoolWorld – Getting Started and Turning Off Features

Posted on Monday, August 15, 2011 in SchoolWorld Teacher Web Pages

The quickest, easiest way to get started with a teacher web page is to find a page that you like and COPY the bones.

Getting Started:

  1. From your campus home page, click on Teacher Websites.
  2. Browse the existing teacher web pages until you find one that has the basics you want to include, such as contact info, daily schedule, grading, expecations, etc.
  3. Highlight and COPY the content of the page.
  4. Login to Schoolworld using your HCISD login.
  5. Click on Edit Home Page.
  6. Right click and PASTE into the white area in the center.
  7. Change the details to suite your needs.
  8. SAVE the page.  Save is tricky because it is at the BOTTOM of the page and easy to miss.
  9. Click on VIEW SITE in the upper right hand corner to see your creation!  Notice that you have many links in the left hand navigation–those need to be turned off until you are ready to use them. You can turn them back on at any time, but do not want to have empty links cluttering your page.

Final Steps – Turning Off Extra Features:

  1. Click MAIN MENU.
  2. At the bottom center of the screen, click on SORT WEB SITE.
  3. UNCHECK all the features that you are not currently using.
  4. Click SAVE at the bottom of the screen.

Congrats!! You have created a simple, informative web page in mere minutes!
